Teralba Sailing Club VJ Videos December 2022

Sat 10th Dec 2022:

Two short course races were sailed in a light shifty 4-8 knot ESE breeze. Results were:

Race 1: Big Apple IV, Go Hard 2, Wildtrack 3.

Race 2: Big Apple IV, Go Hard 2 (Wildtrack 3 didn’t contest the race). Only seconds separated Go Hard 2 and Big Apple IV in a very close finish.

Launching:

Pre start with Go Hard 2 upwind:

Big Apple IV led at the start of the first race, this video taken just after the start with Craig Phillips’ Int Sailing Canoe again starting with the VJs and soon going past to leeward:

First spinnaker run:

At the end of the first race, sailing in a shifty light breeze George and Shahne on Go Hard 2 used their large red asymmetric spinnaker to close the gap on Big Apple IV in the tricky conditions, however Greg and Zoey on Big Apple IV found some breeze to get across the finish line and take their first win:

Between races the VJs and other classes sailed around waiting for the VS class to finish their first race:

Between races:

Sat 3rd Dec 2022:

Big Apple IV won the start and sailed up the first work, with an International Canoe sailed by Craig Phillips also starting with the VJs:

George and Shahne sailed VJ12 ‘Go Hard 2’ and won the race by around 5 mins from VJ Big Apple IV. They are here videoed sailing up the first work not long after the start:

George and Shahne round the top mark at Warners Bay just behind Big Apple IV and hoist the red kite and move quickly down the run. Things go awry at the gybe mark and unfortunately this ends with a swim.

2nd lap George and Shahne at top mark Warners Bay spinnaker hoist and run to bottom mark. After George and Shahne gybe they soon overtake Big Apple IV and have a quick kite run to the bottom mark, then work upwind on 3rd lap to Shipbuilders Point near Speers Point on their way to the top mark again.

3rd and final lap spinnaker run from the Warners Bay top mark. At the gybe the camera gets shaken sideways and continues filming in that position.

Final spinnaker run to the finish line for George and Shahne:
